Dr. Mallika Banerjee
Biographical Info Prof. Mallika Banerjee is a distinguished Professor and Dean at Techno India University and a Retired Professor from the University of Calcutta, with a dedicated focus on disability research, particularly Autism. She has made significant contributions to the field, including founding Pradip: Centre for Autism Management, the first recognized center in West Bengal for individuals with Autism. She developed ADCL, the first Indian Diagnostic and Assessment tool for Autism, published in March 2007 and available in both Bengali and English. Additionally, she created a software tool for training individuals with Autism based on the ‘Theory of Mind’ phenomenon. As an invited keynote speaker, she addressed the European Congress on Autism in Zagreb, Croatia, in March 2019, sponsored by the Government of West Bengal. Prof. Banerjee has authored over 70 scientific journal papers, three books, and eight book chapters. Her accolades include the State Award for Best Applied Research in the field of Disability (Ministry of Women Development & Social Welfare, Child Development, Health, and Family Welfare) in 2013 and 2019, and the Sister Nivedita Humanitarian Award in 2024 on World Women’s Day by the Institute of Engineering and Management, University of Engineering and Management. Prof. Banerjee’s extensive research, publications, and commitment to advancing the understanding and management of Autism have established her as a leading figure in the field of disability studies.
