Shambhavi Nagaraj
Biographical Info I was always curious about human behaviour since my adolescence and my interest. However, I studied commerce in my under-graduation and pursued CA for a while. I did not succeed in CA and my passion for psychology grew as I was tackling my dilemma in the career path chosen by my family versus my passion. In 2017 I followed my and did my Masters in Counselling Psychology from Samourna Insititute of Advanced Studies, Bangalore affiliated to Martin Luther Christian University from Shillong, India. Most of our assessments, teaching, assignments were based on experiential. We were writing reflective papers, attending therapy, practicing skills in dyads which helped me be equipped with more awareness, compassion, and acceptance of myself which was important to start my journey as a professional. We had to undergo practicum of 180 hours of providing therapy and 20 hours of conducting a workshop in various institutes. I did my practical training in school, vocational institute, a week of training in a De-addiction centre to gain knowledge about counselling skills in the real world and conducted workshops for teachers and students. Along with writing a research paper about Mindfulness in my final year. I joined a corporate organisation and gained experience in learning about providing therapy to various people with mental health concerns. During the pandemic, I started my private practice and it’s been a year since then learning about having to be an independent practitioner. I continue my education by attending various workshops and various training programs to learn and undergo therapy to deal with my old patterns. I am inclined towards Transactional analysis, CBT, and PCT. I use an eclectic approach to help the client.
